HAWAII - Has the adventure begun yet?

Lisa and I have been in Hawaii for nearly six days. We have been utterly spoiled while staying with my folks on Maui (North Kihei to be exact). It has been luxurious...exercise, beach, pool, hot tub, food, reading, naps, amazing sunsets, more food, more beach, etc...Usually at 1p.m., we are still trying to figure out what to do for the day.

Lisa's mom arrives tomorrow. We will have a couple days overlap with all of the folks before the Halperns return to cold, snowy Olympia. Lisa and I will have four more days with Kathy, before we depart for Fiji and the real adventure begins.

This probably will be our last entry while still in the U.S. We were both overwhelmed by the support, enthusiasm, and well wishes we received in our last days before departing. Whether it was the dentist, the endodontist, the doctor, the barber, our respective workplaces, our handyman, our communication group, our friends in Bend, our friends out of Bend, our family everywhere...everyone was as excited for us as we were for ourselves. A huge thank you to you all. It is neat to know that we have such an amazing community to return to.

It's still surreal. We have been planning and saving for this for well over two years and now it is becoming a reality. I do not hesitate to say that this would not be happening but for Lisa's vision. She was the impetus to save, to plan, and to make it a reality. Marrying her was the best choice I ever made.

We are still mulling over our expectations, hopes, and dreams regarding 2007. We have individual and collective visions of what we expect, what we want to learn, how we want to grow, and what we want to see, experience, and feel. With all of that said, we are preparing ourselves for whatever the world throws at us. The waiting is over and you are all with us as we begin our journey.
